Why I Love My Post-Baby Body

A poem

Indented streaks appearing on my abdomen are stretch marks that once adorned the first home of my baby

elastin and collagen fibres from excess skin, an everlasting memory of when we were one before we became two

my baby & I…

The dry and thinning hair that plummets off my head reminds me of the hormones that are still trying to find balance in my body.

Leaking milk from my breasts is the miracle that nourishes and sustains growing life

Urine incontinence sketches how hard I worked my pelvic muscles to push out a human life

life.

will.

never.

be.

the.

same.

Nor will my body.

My Miracle. The magic that is my body.

My baby’s first home
